Dear friends,
Five years ago, we created PoP with the sole mission of empowering creatives from all walks of life and highlighting diversity. The outpour of emotion, activity, and media coverage in last few weeks following the killing of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Dominique Fells and many more have emphasized the daily injustices and systemic racism Black people face in the United States and the related injustices based on race and colorism that are dominant in countries where many of you reside.
Now more than ever, we need to come together to show our support for the Black Lives Matter movement so that we can be conduits for change. Over the last few weeks, many of us have taken time to reflect, educate, act, protest, and give-back. We've seen many of you support Black community members who are our family, friends, coworkers and also our leaders and everyday heroes.
Moving forward, we plan to continue investing our love and support for Black creators who are valued members of the PoP community and we believe that this should be a long term effort – not just something that we talk about today, or for the next few weeks.
This is a continued and combined effort – a call to action – to our family of global creators: let us join hands in an ongoing pursuit and commitment towards learning more and truly supporting our Black brothers and sisters. Join PoP to fight inequality, injustice, and biases based on color and privilege. Join us as we take a stance and actively move from being non-racist to anti-racist. Join us by sharing the love, not just today but each day, in our own way.
To continue our efforts, PoP will share the profiles of Black creatives weekly so we can further learn from their stories and struggles and listen to their first-hand experiences so that we can learn and empower one another and bring change for a better tomorrow.
Thank You,
Saunak Shah & Team PoP
